What is Assistance League?

Assistance League Pueblo is a nonprofit organization made up entirely of volunteers who work to better the Pueblo and Pueblo County communities. Assistance League Pueblo owns and operates the Bargain Box Thrift Store and has fundraisers so that the funds raised can be used to benefit our local children. No member gets paid or receives any benefits except for the sheer joy of bettering the lives of our youth and children. We have been active in Pueblo since 1963.

Want to know more? Here’s our story “in a nutshell:”

We raise money through our thrift store, our fundraisers, grants, and donations. We use that money to provide new school clothing to deserving children through our Operation School Bell program, give scholarships to students attending Pueblo colleges, provide cuddly teddy bears to children in crisis, distribute Baby’s Book Bags to at-risk new mothers, and encourage literacy through our Own-Your-Own Book program.

  • Want to help us? Here are some ways:
  • Join us! We welcome new members.
  • Donate your gently used clothing and housewares to our thrift store.
  • Shop in our store.
  • Attend our fundraisers. Get more information here on our website.
  • Make a donation of any size to help us.
  • Follow us on Facebook and spread the word about us.

Can you imagine accomplishing all these good works and at the same time making great, lasting friendships with other members and having some fun times?!?! Well, that’s what Assistance League Pueblo is all about. And we would love to have you join us! Call our office at 719-544-1528 to get more information.

Operation School Bell

Going into its 43rd year, this unique service program provides new clothing for deserving children of families in need in the Pueblo area. Pueblo City schools and Pueblo County School District 70 refer children to us. Over 1,150 students are dressed annually, totaling over 37,000 children since the program's inception.

Annual Fashion Preview

Our Holiday Fashion Preview and Gourmet Luncheon is our largest fundraiser; gathering about 700 attendees at the Pueblo Convention Center annually. The event is scheduled for the first Saturday in December where ALL proceeds support Operation School Bell, our largest philanthropic program. The event includes local entertainment, great raffle prizes, a holiday boutique with hand-picked vendors, a parade of OSB students, a gourmet lunch followed by a fabulous professional fashion show, provided by Dillard’s of the Pueblo Mall. Definitely a “Must Attend Event” where ALL dollars raised stay within the Pueblo Community.

2019 Spirit and Brewfest

This year Assistance League Pueblo is partnering in the 2019 Home of Heroes Spirit and Brewfest as a fundraiser option. The event will take place at the Pueblo Convention Center on Saturday, November 16th, 2019. Stay tuned for more
