Operation School Bell is the signature philanthropy of Assistance League Pueblo. Our volunteers work all year long to see that deserving children in both District 60 and District 70 schools get to start the school year wearing new school clothes.
Established in 1973, this unique service program provides new clothing for deserving children of families in need in the Pueblo area. Pueblo City schools and Pueblo County School District 70 refer children to us. Hundreds of students are dressed annually, totaling over 40,000 children since the program's inception.
The program could not succeed without the support of every Assistance League member and the support of the Pueblo City and Pueblo County school counselors. The counselors refer the children to Assistance League based on need. Assistance League then provides each child with a voucher that will allow the child to shop for his or her own school clothes.
Operation School Bell is a labor of love for the Assistance League members.
